Connecting Mobile Phones with Windows by Using Link to Windows

Make sure your devices are capable. The PC should be Windows 10 or 11, and the phone must run Android 8.0+ (preferably Android 10+) or an iPhone running iOS 16 or higher.

Set Up Your Computer: Open the Phone Link app that already came with your Windows computer. If you can't find it, download it.Choose Your Device: Inside the app you will choose between an Android phone or iPhone for set up. If you go to this URL, yow will ask for signing in with Microsoft account.Prepare Your Phone: For Andriod: Download the Link to Windows app from Google Play Store and install it. For iPhone: Download Link to Windows from the Apple App Store.

Once everything looks the way you want it, pair your devices: You will see a QR code on PC. On your phone, go to the Link to Windows app, and use its integrated scanner to scan it. When manual device linking cannot be done in the form of a QR code.

This will be followed by the prompts to grant permissions on your phone. This includes contacts, messages and notifications for test and call features to work properly. Also, make sure to enable Bluetooth on the phone for calls and both devices.

If your phone is hooked to it, you can call from a Windows PC, send texts in the same way and view photos or even deal with notifications.

How to Send Photos from Phone to PC via Link to Windows

Sharing via the Share Menu

This is the fastest way to do it for sending certain photos. Launch your Gallery app, and you will have an option to select the said photo (s), typically works by pressing long on a starter. Click the Share, and from the system share drawer select Link to Windows – Send to PC. Choose your connected PC from the list and it will start transferring. After it's sent, a notification pops up on your PC; just click it open the file saved in Downloads\Phone Link by default.

Using the Phone Screen Feature

For more control, use the Phone screen feature in the Phone Link app on your PC. This mirrors your phone's display. Open the Gallery app in the mirrored screen, and long-press a photo to select it. Then, tap additional photos to select multiple images. Finally, long-press again on any selected photo, and when a thumbnail appears, drag it out of the Phone Link window and drop it directly onto your PC desktop or a folder to copy the files instantly.

View and Save from the Photos Tab

On the Photos tab, you'll see your phone's recent pictures synchronized. Views them from the app and then right-click any picture for Save As to copy it into your PC.

Requires update of both apps; devices on same Wi-Fi network and Bluetooth enabled for setup.

Link to Windows Is Your Seamless Calling Solution

The calling function is a 2-way voice transmission, however without Bluetooth functionality out of the box on your PC, it cannot be used. Once you link your phone in the app and go through a simple pairing process to connect (often via QR code), Phone Link gives access to recent calls and contacts stored on your device.

Dialing New Numbers, Searching Contacts is done through the Calls tab followed by a simple click on someone to call. A notification comes on your PC when a call is incoming and you can answer, mute or reject that without even touching the phone. So you are using your PC's speakers and microphone as a speakerphone that makes conversations more comfortable in work.

The feature works across Android and iPhone devices — but they are not quite the same experience. On android phones this is a much closer level of integration allowing for things like call handling. For iPhone it is more limited experience, relying much on stable Bluetooth connection and despite being a great voice phone call device, can be less reliable when used as one due to restrictions from the side of iOS.

The support for Bluetooth headsets calls with an iPhone via Phone Link is also missing currently. Have Bluetooth switched on both devices and all permissions granted (during the setup) for optimized usage irrespective of platform.

Step by Step Guide of Connecting Your Phone with PC

The Link to Windows is commonly found preinstalled on certain devices (Android 9.0+) for Android users. Open the Quick Settings menu by swiping down. If not already installed, you can download the free application directly from Google Play Store. The app will require an Android 7.0 or more recent release.

On the iPhone, there is a “Link to Windows” app that can already be downloaded from Apple App Store. It needs an iPhone running on the latest version, aka] compiled with 16 or newer.

On your Windows PC, the matching "Phone Link" app is normally already part of Home windows 10 and eleven. Search for it by clicking on the Start Menu and typing in Phone Link. And if it isn't installed, you can download the free version on the Microsoft Store.

Once you've installed the apps on both devices, fire up Phone Link in your PC and choose what type of device you're connecting (Android or iPhone) — scan the QR code shown on-screen with "Link to Windows" mobile app for completing setup.

Key Takeaway for Link to Windows

First, system requirements are critical. For Android, it needs to use Android 7.0 or newer (but often testing is better on devices with Android 8.0 at the least). For iOS users, the phone needs to be running on at least iOS 16 version. The PC made to run Windows 10 (May circulate of buds stages) or above the other hand, make to urge running Home windows eleven. Both the devices need to be BT-compatible and are preferably connected over a single Wi-Fi network for best performance.

Second, we need to pay attention to the permissions and privacy. It also require explicit permission for notifications, email address and asks access to your contacts SMS and phone calls. These permissions must be approved by users while setting it up, and Android privacy protections may also limit sensitive notifications to those installed on newer OS versions. Before you install, make sure to read through Microsoft's privacy policy.

Third, feature limitations exist. Performance for app mirroring can be dictated by your phone's CPU and network quality too, with some DRM protected or banking apps even preventing it from working at all. For speed (around 2000 images, from recent ones) - the photo view usually only short a variety of new events. Moreover, certain premium features such as drag-and-drop and app streaming are limited exclusively to specific devices or other compatible models.
